Malayalam film and television actor Dileep Shankar was discovered dead in a hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, as per state reports. The police filed a case following the hotel staff’s discovery of his body in the room.

According to multiple reports, Dileep Shankar had checked into a hotel near Vanross Junction in Thiruvananthapuram four days ago while filming for the television show Panchagni. A resident of Ernakulam, the actor had not been seen leaving his room for two days.

Concern arose on Sunday morning when hotel staff noticed a foul odor coming from his room. Upon entering, they discovered him unresponsive and immediately alerted the police, who quickly arrived at the scene.

Director Manoj, who had been collaborating with Dileep on the show, shared with Manorama that there had been a two-day break in filming. During this time, neither he nor Dileep’s co-stars could reach the actor, as he did not respond to their calls. Manoj also revealed that Dileep had been dealing with unspecified health problems.

Dileep Shankar was a well-recognized figure in the Malayalam film and television industry. He gained popularity for his performances in hit TV shows such as Ammaariyathe, Sundari, and Panchagni. Additionally, he appeared in notable films like North 24 (2013) and Chaappa Kurish.
